In Chinook Jargon are many strong words. A few give us directions. When we go to water or near water we use these few, strong words: | |
keekwullie chuck = in (or under) water | |
klak kopa chuck = out from water | |
kopa hyas salt chuck = on ocean | |
siah kopa hyas salt chuck = far on ocean | |
mahtlinnie = off shore | |
mahtwillie = in (towards) shore | |
wake siah illahee = not far land | |
wake siah nauits = not far beach | |
kopa nauits = on beach | |
klak nauits pe kopa illahee tupsoo = off beach and on grass |
